Birdcage

One of my favourite types of clock that I get asked to make. Totally Steampunk, and just allowed to let my imagination go wild. Entitled the 'Birdcage Clock' for obvious reasons! Gorgeous burl walnut casing, and just about the right level of decoration. Has some very nice GN-7 Nixie tubes in there as well, very clear and well defined digits. The Birdcage contains an old key, which gravity lines up perfectly with the hole in the floor of the cage. The cage started life as a little fireside sweeping brush! More gears and pipes that go to create the overall effect - what does this thing actually do? and why does it need to keep a key prisoner? always a conversation starter..

Projects like these I can just let my imagination run wild, and some of the wierdest things are the end result!
