Balance lamp (A-Type) by BLOTT WORKS

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Sculptural desk lamps that play with gravity and a bit of simple rocking chair science.   

This family of sculptural lamps are designed to allow you to roll them forward or backward as a way of extending or retracting the light horizontally. Repositioning the big brass weight on the rocker re-balances the lamp to a new equilibrium. Fine angle adjustments are made by sliding the upper brass counterweight along the horizontal bar. 

This A-Type Balance lamp is based on a golden ratio spiral giving it a flavour of natural forms or swirling galaxies.

It is hoped that these simple things will make routine lamp adjustment a satisfying and playful experience. And put something truly sculptural on your desk!

Balance lamps are hand-engineered in the North of England out of anodised aluminium, brass, stainless steel and hardwoods. They are approximately 42 cm tall and use a standard 12V DC LED bulb and plug-type power supply.

I wouldn’t change a thing about this clock, the depth of the display and richness of colour with the lighting effects is spot-on. I have it scrolling through the ‘slots’ mode every minute and the date display too so I get animation 60 times an hour. It makes me feel like I’m either in a nuclear bunker, about to engage time travel or waiting to be found at the bottom of the hatch in ‘Lost’! There are so many setup options available on this clock that there is no excuse to dislike anything at all about the clocks operation. I love the fact that this classic old counter has been given new purpose and a new lease of life. Overall, this clock is absolutely superb, I couldn’t be happier.
